Eero Saarinen - ahmazing. The curves are so beautiful and so is the white and natural light.

8226:

Today I explored the TWA Flight Center at JFK Airport in NYC designed by Eero Saarinen.

For 3 hours this afternoon, this beautiful landmark building (currently unused) was opened to the public to explore. Almost every bit - except the cafes - have been restored. My favorite part (not shown here) is the entrance through a long, red carpeted circular tube. It is slightly disorienting in a pleasant way, a feeling that you are already in flight.

An interesting note from Wikipedia:

“The terminal was also the first with enclosed passenger jetways, closed circuit television, a central public address system, baggage carousels, electronic schedule board and baggage scales, and the satellite clustering of gates away from the main terminal. Food and beverage services included the Constellation Club, Lisbon Lounge, and Paris Café.”

Plans for its future are currently unclear, but it is registered as a protected national landmark.
